What is Dial-A-Ride?

Dial-A-Ride is a door to door transport service using an adapted vehicle which provides easy access for passengers including wheelchair users.  All our vehicles are fitted with safety belts which must be worn at all times, unless there are medical reasons, for which we will require written proof. Tyres on wheelchairs must be fully inflated.

Who can use it?

Anyone living in the Bexhill area, regardless of age, with any type of disability that makes it difficult or impossible to use public transport. It can be used for shopping, visiting friends, medical appointments, hairdressers, theatre matinees etc within the local area.

What if I need help?

If you require a helper, this person will travel free of charge provided that they are collected from the same address as the member.

How much does it cost?

The current suggested donation (as of September 2014) is £8.50 return with an escort travelling free.

How do I book?

Once you are a Member you should call 01424 215116 at least 48 hours before you require the service. Bookings are taken between 8:30am and 3:00pm on Monday to Friday. Outside office hours an answerphone is in operation.

Dial-A-Ride will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between the hours of 9am and 4pm. Please remember that Dial-A-Ride may have to pick up or drop off passengers on the way to your destination, so allow plenty of time for your journey.  Remember to book your return journey at the same time.

What happens if I need to cancel a booking?

The office should be informed as soon as possible, and at least 12 hours before the booked journey, by telephoning 01424 215116.

If you do not cancel a booking that you no longer require, it may result in a charge being made.
